Mt. Molare
|
Mt. Molare is the highest point
on the Sorrento Peninsular just south of Naples, Italy. If you
visit Pompeii, and you are English or German speaking, there is a good
chance you will stay in Sorrento. A train takes you directly from
Sorrento to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples. Hydrofoils connect to
Capri and Ischia, islands guarding the Bay of Naples. Mt. Molare
is mostly a hike. There is the slightest bit of scrambling near
the top. If you get off route, there is lots of serious
scrambling.

Big
Sister
|
Big Sister is the larger of the
Three Sisters that overlook Canmore, Alberta. It's rated as a moderate
scramble for enthusiastic scramblers, but for families it lies
somewhere
between difficult and impossible. It is unrelentingly steep, and
the difficulties appear half-way in the form of a downclimb that has
fall distance down to a scree slope. For those like me who don't
trust Rockies rock, it requires a rope.

Fortress
Mtn
|
Fortress Mtn is on the east side
of the Smith Dorrien highway between Spray Lakes and Peter Lougheed
Park. It's a long hike, but its isolation and beauty make it
worth the effort.
